Hans Rosling Center at the University of Washington
2026 ARCH Conference
Saturday, May 16th
10AM - 4PM

Theme:
Turning the Tide: Resilience Through Change
This year’s theme, “Turning the Tide: Resilience Through Change,” reflects the circumstances that many public health professionals find themselves navigating today. As a field, public health is undergoing significant shifts shaped by political hostility, funding uncertainty, workforce burnout, and growing distrust from the communities it aims to serve. Despite these challenges, practitioners continue to show creativity, commitment, and resilience in advancing equity-driven work.
The 2026 ARCH Conference will focus on the current realities of public health careers, what motivates individuals to stay engaged in the field, and how younger generations are shaping the future of public health practice, advocacy, and leadership. Through this theme, we invite participants to engage in collaborative discussions about how we can overcome barriers to equitable, anti-racist work, as well as how new perspectives and innovative solutions can drive the next generation of public health. Together, let us find ways to turn the tide and practice resilience in these times of uncertainty and adversity.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cost of the conference?
Payment for the conference will be on a sliding scale of $5 - $20. Our suggested payment is $10, but attendees may choose to pay whatever price they are willing and able to. For transparency, the cost of conference expenses breaks down to about $45 per guest, but we have chosen to implement a sliding scale payment system to make our event more accessible.
With this said, we are passionate about ensuring that everyone can attend the ARCH Conference regardless of financial ability. Thus, you can register using a fee-waiver option, with no questions asked. You won't have to pay nor prove your financial status.
Is lunch provided?
Yes! We are providing light snacks and drip coffee from Leon Coffee House in the morning. Lunch at noon will consist of banh mis from Saigon Deli. Dessert at 1:45PM will be tres leches from Tres Lecheria. This is included in the cost of the conference.
All of our food is from local BIPOC small businesses! If you have any dietary preferences, please mention so in the RSVP form and we would be happy to accommodate.
Can you network with speakers?
Yes! We have protected Q&A time at the end of each talk. Speakers will also be available to network with during lunch and dessert.
What types of talks are there?
There are four talks: keynote, TED Talks, workshops, and career panelists. Keynote is a 50-minute speech on a broad overview of our theme. TED Talks are 20 minute speeches regarding how our theme applies to different areas of public health. Workshops are where the attendees split into groups and work with each other on a specific topic the workshop leaders provide. The career panel is a moderated discussion between the three panelists.
What accessibility accommodations are provided?
Our main form of accommodation is by providing CART captioning. The venue also has wheelchair accessible pathways and elevators. All food will be labeled with allergens. If you need any additional accommodations, please mention it in the RSVP form, and we will accomodate!
What is the dress code?
Typically, conferences are business casual. However, we understand that accessing business casual is inaccessible for many, so we do not have any dress code. The ARCH Planning Committee will be in business casual, but you can come as you are.
